Introduction to Seven Basic Doctrines of Heb 6:1-2
We have begun a review of the lessons covered last year. Enclosed is a list of the topics that were covered. Anyone wanting a copy of any of these lessons, please let us know. Repetition is one of the best ways to learn. This is one reason that the Set Apart Days are repeated year after year. Though I have been keeping these Days for over 40 years, the review of all of these subjects has increased my understanding as I am sure it will increase yours as we revisit these topics.
I will cover each set-apart Day in their proper sequence as they arrive.
REPENTANCE FROM DEAD WORKS
Introduction to Seven Basic Doctrines of Heb 6:1-2 We have begun a review of the lessons covered last year. I will also supplement these topics with other topics as they are requested or I see a need arise. I am also thinking of a topic about Satan called “Know Your Enemy. This Sabbath’s Lesson is nine pages so it will probably take 2 Sabbaths to cover it. Every Sabbath, we have had some kind of technical or electrical problem. Please pray for a problem free Sabbath and for others to join us.
SEVEN BASIC DOCTRINES OF HEBREW
6:1-2 The Seven Basic Doctrines are: Repentance from dead works, Faith toward YAH, immersion, Laying on of Hands, Going on to Perfection, Eternal Judgment, and the Resurrection of the Dead. We have all studied the set-apart Days and their meanings. We have kept the Passover, the Night to be Much Remembered, the First Day of Unleavened Bread and we will soon be observing the Last Day of Unleavened Bread. As many of you have commented, the actual observation of the Days brings a much deeper understanding and vision of YAH’s plan of Salvation for all mankind. The basic doctrines reveal the conversion process that gives the power and understanding that actually bring about the real fulfillment of the Holy Days. As we have discovered in previous studies, what mainstream Christianity teaches is very different than what the truth of Scripture reveals and so it will be with the seven Basic Doctrines. The world doesn’t understand what they really need to repent of, or what kind of Faith is needed for Salvation, or the correct biblical way to be baptized and receive His Set Apart Spirit, as it is not generally taught or practiced. The first Doctrine is:
What is Repentance from Dead Works/What is Real Repentance? Repentance means to change. In this case, a change of one’s heart and mind from sin to putting sin out; from evil to doing good. Examples of Dead Works are found in: Gal 5:19-21 – Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, sedition’s, heresies, 21 Envying s, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of ELohim Ephesians 2:1-5 – And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of 2 the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But ELOHIM, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Messiah, (by favor ye are saved;) Sinful practices are called dead works. Dead works are any sinful practices that would lead us to spiritual death rather than eternal life. See Prov 21:16 below.
6 Prov 21:16 – The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead. Real repentance is when a miracle occurs that gives Spiritual Sightedness for a person to see and understand themselves and repent of the things they previously didn’t even understand were sin. Real repentance comes from YAH.
7 Rom 2:4 – Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and long suffering; not knowing that the goodness of ELOHIM leadeth thee to repentance?
Many people are not even aware or know when the process of real repentance begins. It starts with our calling. John 6:44, 65 – No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. Vs 65 – And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. The power of the set-apart Spirit begins to work with our minds to teach and convict us of sin.
John 14:17 – Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth it not, neither knoweth it: but ye know it; for it dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. When we are ready for immersion the Spirit will then be in us by the laying on of hands after immersion for our sins. Verse 17 says it is the spirit of truth which the world can not receive. It is only those whom the Father is calling and granting repentance to that are able to receive His Spirit.
Matt 13:10, 15-16 – And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? Vs 15-16 – For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. 16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. We are given eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart that can understand and turn from sin and be converted and be healed spiritually. This is the miracle of a real repentant heart.
2 Cor 7:10 – For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. 3 Real repentance is when the Set Apart Spirit convicts us of truth in such a way that we are truly pricked in our hearts.
Acts 2:36-38 – Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that ELOHIM hath made the same YAHSHUA, whom ye have crucified, both ADONAI and Messiah. 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be immersed every one of you in the name of YAHSHUA Messiah for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Set Apart Spirit. Verse 36 says we have all crucified Yahshua. He had to die for even our smallest sins.
Rom 6:23 says the wages of sin is death. Unless a person really repents and is baptized, they have the death penalty hanging over their heads. How does one really feel who is being brought to true repentance?
Job 42:1-6 – Then Job answered YAH, and said, 2 I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee. 3 Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not. 4 Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. 5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. 6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.
Job 1:8 – And YAH said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth ELOHIM, and escheweth evil? In Job 1:8, even YAH said of Job – he was perfect and upright. This was from an outward, physical appearance. Yet Job, in his heart, was not right with YAH. He needed to be humbled to see himself in comparison to his Creator. He could not see his own self-righteousness. In verses 5 and 6 it took a great humbling for Job to become spiritually sighted enough to see how Great YAH was and how insignificant he was. Matt 19:16-17 – And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, ELOHIM: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. When one called Yahshua good he said only one was good – YAH. Worldly repentance, as taught by the churches of this world, teaches one need only believe to receive eternal life. Yahshua said if we are to enter into life, we should keep the commandments. This includes the Sabbath Day. Ex 31:13 – Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am YAH that doth sanctify you. The Sabbath sign is to identify YAH’s true covenant people. We are sanctified by it as well which means we are set apart to be set-apart as He is set apart.
4 I Pet 1:15-16 – But as he which hath called you is set apart, so be ye set apart in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye set apart; for I am set apart. We have a special calling for a special purpose. I Pet 2:9 – But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an set-apart nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light Those who have not really repented of breaking the Sabbath, not keeping the set-apart Days and have participated in pagan worship like Christmas, Easter and Halloween and other pagan celebrations and the traditions of men are worshiping Yahshua in vain.
Matt 15:9 – But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Matt 7:21-23 – Not everyone that saith unto me, Master, Master, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Master, Master, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Iniquity means lawlessness)
This means all those who teach the law is done away. One must now ask themselves – “Have I really repented of these things?” “Am I truly sorry for breaking His commandments?” In the past, did I really understand what real repentance was? Now that I am willing to repent of the past, what do I do now? Luke 3:8 – Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That ELOHIM is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. Repentance and putting sin out of our lives is a life-long part of the conversion process. Next we will study faith towards YAH and Immersion.
Immersion is a covenant or contractual relationship with our Savior. The terms and conditions of that contract we will cover in detail in the next lesson. In brief though, when we meet the condition of “fruit meet for repentance” that is real repentance as a qualifying pre-requisite for baptism. He then, promises to give us the gift of the Set Apart Spirit – to convert us and blot out our sins.
Acts 3:19 – Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of YAH. Also because we have repented properly and are willing to surrender our lives and obey him, He promises the gift of the Set Apart Spirit. Acts 5:32 – And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Spirit, whom ELOHIM hath given to them that obey him. 5 This study is a beginning study on repentance and will help lay a foundation of repentance from dead works. Here are some additional scriptures for your study on repentance, both old and new testament.
The following is a scriptural reference for the subject of repentance. It will be of immense help to all of us. Please notice that even when taken captive that YAH will influence their enemies to have compassion upon them.
1 Kings 8:46-51, 60-61 – If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near; 47 Yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness; 48 And so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name: 49 Then hear thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven thy dwelling place, and maintain their cause, 50 And forgive thy people that have sinned against thee, and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee, and give them compassion before them who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them: 51 For they be thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron: Vs 60-61 – That all the people of the earth may know that YAH is ELOHIM, and that there is none else. 61 Let your heart therefore be perfect with YAH our ELOHIM, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
Job 42:5-6 – I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. 6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes. Jer. 8:5-6 – Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return. 6 I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.
Ezek 14:5-11 – That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols. Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith YAH; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations. 7 For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I YAH will answer him by myself: 8 And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am YAH. 9 And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I YAH have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel. 10 And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the 6 punishment of him that seeketh unto him; 11 That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their ELOHIM, saith YAH.
Ezek 18:30-32 – Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith YAH. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. 31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith YAH: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye. Joel 2 :12-14 – Therefore also now, saith YAH, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: 13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto YAH your ELOHIM: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. 14 Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto YAH your ELOHIM?
Matt 3:1-2, 8 , 11 – In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Vs 8 – Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: Vs 11 – I indeed immersed you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall immerse you with the Set Apart Spirit, and with fire Matt 4:17 – From that time YAHSHUA began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matt 9:12-13 – But when YAHSHUA heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. 13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Matt 11:20 – Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

Vs 15 – And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of EL is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Luke 13:1-3 – There were present at that season some that told him of the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And YAHSHUA answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galileans were sinners above all the Galileans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 15:7, 10 – I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. Vs 10 – Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of ELOHIM over one sinner that repenteth. Luke 17:3-4 – Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. 4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
Luke 24:47 – And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Acts 2:38-39 – Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be immersed every one of you in the name of YAHSHUA Messiah for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Set Apart Spirit. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as YAH our ELOHIM shall call. Acts 3:19 – Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of YAH.
Acts 5:30-32 – The ELOHIM of our fathers raised up YAHSHUA, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. 31 Him hath ELOHIM exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. 32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Spirit, whom ELOHIM hath given to them that obey him. And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Set Apart Spirit. 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye Immersed? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily immersed with the immersion of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Messiah YAHSHUA. 5 When they heard this, they were 8 baptized in the name of YAHSHUA. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Set Apart Spirit came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. Rom 11:29 – For the gifts and calling of ELOHIM are without repentance. 2 Cor 7:9-11 – Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. 11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter. **(Please notice this scripture gives you what the correct type of Yahly sorrow is all about and how a person should feel during the repentance process) **2 Tim 2:25-26 – In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if ELOHIM peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. **Heb 6:4-6 – For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Set Apart Spirit, 5 And have tasted the good word of ELOHIM, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of ELOHIM afresh, and put him to an open shame. II Pet 3:9 – YAH is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Jos 23:13 know for certain that יהוה your Elohim shall no longer drive these nations out from before you. And they shall be snares and traps to you, and a whip on your sides and thorns in your eyes, 11 Jdg 2:18 And when יהוה raised up rulers for them, יהוה was with the ruler and saved them from the hand of their enemies all the days of the ruler, for יהוה had compassion on their groaning because of those who oppressed them and crushed them. Jdg 2:19 And it came to be, when the ruler was dead, that they would turn back and do more corruptly than their fathers, to go after other mighty ones, to serve them and bow down to them. They did not refrain from their practices and from their stubborn way.
Jdg 2:20 And the displeasure of יהוה burned against Yisra’ĕl, and He said, “Because this nation has transgressed My covenant that I commanded their fathers, and has not obeyed My voice, Jdg 2:21 I also shall no longer drive out before them any of the nations which Yehoshua left when he died, Jdg 2:22 in order to try1 Yisra’ĕl by them, whether they would guard the way of יהוה ,to walk in them their fathers guarded them, or not until you perish from this good land which יהוה your Elohim has given you. Jdg 2:23 So יהוה left those nations, without driving them out at once, and did not give them into the hand of Yehoshua. 1 Sa 12:24 “Only fear יהוה ,and you shall serve Him in truth with all your heart, for consider what marvels He has done for you. 1Sa 12:25 “But if you persist in doing evil, both you and your sovereign are consumed.”
1 Sa 12:19 And all the people said to Shemu’ĕl, “Pray for your servants to יהוה your Elohim, that we do not die, for we have added to all our sins this evil of asking for ourselves a sovereign.” 1Sa 12:20 And Shemu’ĕl said to the people, “Do not fear. You have done all this evil. Only, do not turn aside from following יהוה .And you shall serve יהוה with all your heart, 1Sa 12:21 and do not turn aside after worthless matters which do not profit or deliver, for they are worthless.
1 Sa 12:22 “For יהוה would not cast away His people, for His great Name’s sake, seeing it has pleased יהוה to make you His people. 1 Sa 12:23 “Also, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against יהוה in ceasing to pray for you, but I shall teach you the good and straight way. David’s sin of murdering Uriyah was pre-meditated. David was forgiven, however there was a price to pay. He chose to fall into the hands of YAH and would have to live with the sword in his house. Read Psalm 51 which was his prayer of repentance. His sin, which was repented of, gives us all hope for the forgiveness of our sins. 2 Sa 11:15 And he wrote in the letter, saying, “Set Uriyah in the front of the heaviest battle, and you shall turn away from him, and he shall be smitten and shall die.” 2 Sa 11:16 And it came to be, as Yo’ab watched the city, that he appointed Uriyah to the place where he knew there were brave men. 2Sa 11:17 And the men of the city came out and fought with Yo’ab. And some of the people of the servants of Dawid fell. And Uriyah the Ḥittite also died. 2Sa 11:18 And Yo’ab sent and reported to Dawid all the events of the battle,
