Immersion According to Scripture

Introduction:  Many people believe that in order to be saved, all a person has to do is just believe, but what happens to real repentance, grieving and overcoming-Developing the mind of Messiah

Philippians 2:5.  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Yahshua the Messiah. How is Yahshua forming in us.

Galatians 4:19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Messiah be formed in you.

Is there a conversion process? Whereas one prepares themselves as the Bride of Messiah

Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready?

What does Scripture really say about how one is really converted?

Is your conversion a False Conversion? Immersion is the most important decision a person will make in their lifetime. According to the truth of Scripture, there is a correct way to prepare for and complete the immersion/covenant process.

Many people do not follow the Scriptural Instructions regarding this subject and never really are truly converted. All they are left with is a false or counterfeit conversion when they do not meet, or refuse to meet the terms and conditions of the Covenant agreement found in the Scriptures. They never receive His Set-apart Spirit. They simply get wet.

Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of Elohim dwells in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Messiah, this one is not His.

Romans 8:10 And if Messiah is in you, the body is truly dead-on account of sin, but the Spirit is life on account of righteousness.

Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of Him who raised Yahshua from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Messiah from the dead shall also give life to your mortal bodies? through His Spirit dwelling in you. Most people who profess Messiah do not understand what they must actually do to receive His Spirit.

Acts 5:32 And we are His witnesses to these matters, and so also is the Set-apart Spirit whom Elohim has given to those who obey Him.

This means one must be obedient to all the scriptures that will be covered in this lesson. Mainstream religion thinks that “Conversion” is a one-time, just believe, event or “Once saved, always saved.” True Conversion is a life-long process of growing and overcoming.

Revelation 2:26 And he who overcomes, and guards My works until the end, to him I shall give authority over the nations,

Revelation 3:5 He who overcomes shall be dressed in white robes, and I shall by no means blot out his name from the Book of Life, but I shall confess his name before My Father and before His messengers. Most people think being saved is going to heaven. This is contrary to the Truth of Scripture.

John 3:13 And no one has gone up into the heaven except He who came down from the heaven – the Son of Adam. Mankind does not know or understand why they were born. Simply put, Yahweh is recreating Himself! He wants us to be part of His ruling Family during the millennium and beyond.

Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones – and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them – and the lives of those who had been beheaded because of the witness they bore to Yahshua and because of the Word of Elohim, and who did not worship the beast, nor his image, and did not receive his mark upon their foreheads or upon their hands. And they lived and reigned with Messiah for a thousand years

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of Elohim, these are sons of Elohim.

Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”

Romans 8:16 The Spirit Itself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of Elohim,

Romans 8:17 and if children, also heirs – truly heirs of Elohim, and co-heirs with Messiah, if indeed we suffer with Him, in order that we also be exalted together.

Mathew 12:48 But He answering, said to the one who spoke to Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?”

Mathew 12:49 And having stretched out His hand toward His taught ones, He said, “See My Mother and My brothers!

Mathew 12:50 For whoever does the desire of My Father who is in the heavens is My brother and sister and mother.”

Immersion has three main purposes:

  1. To forgive our sins.
  2. To create a Covenant relationship between Yahweh and us.
  3. To give us His Set-apart Spirit which empowers us to grow and overcome and develop the mind and character of our Creator.

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you prove what is that good and well-pleasing and perfect desire of Elohim.

The word transformed in the Greek is metamorphous. Our mind is transformed from a carnal mind, to having the mind of Messiah through the power of His Spirit.

Romans 8:6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace.

Romans 8:7 Because the mind of the flesh is enmity towards Elohim, for it does not subject itself to the Torah of Elohim, neither indeed is it able,

Romans 8:8 and those who are in the flesh are unable to please Elohim.

Philippians 2:5 For, let this mind be in you which was also in Messiah Yahshua,

It takes most people their entire lifetime to complete the Conversion Process and reach the fullness and stature of our Perfect Example – our Savior. Yah has perfect timing, however. If He calls someone later in life, it is usually because they are very sensitive and responsive to Him; and have an understanding of what He expects of them, and will dedicate themselves to fulfilling His will in their lives.

Ephesians 4:13 until we all come to the unity of the belief and of the knowledge of the Son of Elohim, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the completeness of Messiah,

Galatians 4:19 My little children, for whom I am again in birth pains until Messiah is formed in you,

Ephesians 3:16 in order that He might give you, according to the riches of His esteem by power, to be strengthened in the inner man, through His Spirit,

Ephesians 3:17 that the Messiah might dwell in your hearts through belief – having become rooted and grounded in love,

Ephesians 3:18 in order that you might be strengthened to firmly grasp, with all the set-apart ones, what is the width and length and depth and height,

Ephesians 3:19 to know the love of Messiah which surpasses knowledge, in order that you might be filled to all the completeness of Elohim.

Ephesians 3:20 And to Him who is able to do exceedingly above what we ask or think, according to the power that is working in us,

Ephesians 3:21 to Him be esteem in the assembly by Messiah Yahshua unto all generations, for ever and ever. Ame’n.

Our Conversion Process is a way of life with Yah being the center of our life. He is continuously searching the hearts and minds of men.

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is crooked above all, and desperately sick – who shall know it?”

Jeremiah 17:10 I, Yahweh, search the heart, I try the kidneys, and give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.

He is the one that calls people and performs the miracle of literally opening their minds to His Truth.

John 6:44 No one is able to come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him. And I shall raise him up in the last day.

John 6:65 And He said, “Because of this I have said to you that no one is able to come to Me unless it has been given to him by My Father.”

Not everyone at this time is being called – only those who are most likely to answer the call.

Mathew 13:10 And the taught ones came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”

Mathew 13:11 And He answering, said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the secrets of the reign of the heavens, but to them it has not been given.

Mathew 20:16 Thus the last shall be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.

We cannot be chosen if we do not accept and answer the call. We must comprehend the great opportunity and blessing it is to be called out of the darkness and the deception of this world.

Acts 26:18 to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light, and the authority of Satan to Elohim, in order for them to receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are set-apart by belief in Me.

I Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a set-apart nation, a people for a possession, that you should proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light,

This is accomplished through the power of the Set-apart Spirit working the miracle of opening a person’s heart and mind.

John 14:16 And I shall ask the Father, and He shall give you another Helper, to stay with you forever –

John 14:17 the Spirit of the Truth, whom the world is unable to receive, because it does not see It or know It. But you know It, for It stays with you and shall be in you.

Please notice verse 17 states that the Set-apart Spirit is called the Spirit of Truth –that the world cannot receive – why not? Most people in the world are not being called now and are truly spiritually blind and deceived.

Mathew 13:14 And the prophecy of Isaias is fulfilled in them, who saith: By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand: and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive.

Mathew 13:15 For the heart of this people is grown gross, and with their ears they have been dull of hearing, and their eyes they have shut: lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

In John 14:17 mentioned above, a person is called out of the world and the Set-apart Spirit is working with them. After immersion, through the laying on of hands of a minister of the truth, the Spirit is then given to them and is within them. The Spirit then continues to help the “called out person” with their journey of growing, overcoming and revealing the truth of Scripture to their hearts and minds.

John 14:26 But the Helper, the Set-apart Spirit, whom the Father shall send in My Name, it shall teach you all, and remind you of all that I said to you.

John 16:13 But when It comes, the Spirit of the Truth, it shall guide you into all the truth. For It shall not speak from Itself, but whatever It hears It shall speak, and It shall announce to you what is to come.

Hebrews 6:1-2 contain all of the basic Doctrines of the Renewed Covenant. Four of these doctrines are the beginning of the conversion process – Belief in Elohim,

Repentance From Dead Works, Immersion, and the Laying on of Hands. Another doctrine called Going on to Perfection is the continuing process of conversion until we die or are changed at Yahshua’s return.

The truth of Scripture imparts in us belief in Elohim and His Word, giving us the knowledge that His blood and sacrifice will cleanse us of all of our sins. Please notice what the scriptures tell us sin is in I John 3:4.

I John 3:4 Everyone doing sin also does lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. Also notice that the wages of sin is death.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the favourable gift of Elohim is everlasting life in Messiah Yahshua our Master.

The entire world is the way it is due to all of the sin in it. Yahshua died for the whole world, but He is still our personal Savior.

Colossians 1:14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins,

Colossians 1:15 who is the likeness of the invisible Elohim, the first-born of all creation.

Colossians 1:16 Because in Him were created all that are in the heavens and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or rulership’s or principalities or authorities – all have been created through Him and for Him.

Colossians 1:17 And He is before all, and in Him all hold together.

Colossians 1:18 And He is the Head of the body, the assembly, who is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that He might become the One who is first in all.

Colossians 1:19 Because in Him all the completeness was well pleased to dwell,

Colossians 1:20 and through Him to completely restore to favour all unto Himself, whether on earth or in the heavens, having made peace through the blood of His stake.

Colossians 1:21 And you, who once were estranged and enemies in the mind by wicked works, but now He has completely restored to favour

Colossians 1:22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you set-apart, and blameless, and unreprovable before Him, Yahshua died for the whole world, never the less, He is still our personal Savior. Conversion is a matter of the heart! We must feel, with all of our heart, gratitude and sorrow for what He did for us discerning the true magnitude of His Sacrifice. The Passover ceremony amplifies the need to discern His body with reverence and solemness.

1 Colossians 11:27 So that whoever should eat this bread or drink this cup of the Master unworthily shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Master.

1 Colossians 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread and drink of that cup.

As we come to accept our Savior for the first time and wanting to be immersed, we too, must examine ourselves and recognize our need for forgiveness and belief in His blood.

1 Colossians 11:29 For the one who is eating and drinking unworthily, eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Master.

Notice the reaction of those gathering in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost.

Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that Elohim has made this Yahshua, whom you impaled, both Master and Messiah.”

Acts 2:37 And having heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the emissaries, “Men, brothers, what shall we do?”

Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them Repent, and let each one of you be immersed in the Name of Yahshua Messiah for the forgiveness of sins., And you shall receive the gift of the Set-apart Spirit.

Acts 2:39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are far off, as many as Yahweh our Elohim shall call.”

We too, must be pierced in our hearts, because our Conversion is of the Heart!

Mathew 13:15 for the heart of this people has become thickened, and their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their heart, and turn back, and I heal them.

We must understand with our heads as well as with our heart, all that He personally did for us. We should pray and meditate on the following verses that describe His painful, scourging and sacrifice which was done for each one of us.

Isaiah 53:1 Who has believed our report? And to whom was the arm of Yahweh revealed?

Isaiah 53:2 For He grew up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or splendour that we should look upon Him, nor appearance that we should desire Him

Isaiah 53:3 despised and rejected by men, a man of pains and knowing sickness. And as one from whom the face is hidden, being despised, and we did not consider Him.

Isaiah 53:4 Truly, He has borne our sicknesses and carried our pains. Yet we reckoned Him stricken, smitten by Elohim, and afflicted.

Isaiah 53:5 But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our crookedness’s. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

Isaiah 53:6 We all, like sheep, went astray, each one of us has turned to his own way. And Yahweh has laid on Him the crookedness of us all.

Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, but He did not open His mouth. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, but He did not open His mouth.

Isaiah 53:8 He was taken from prison and from judgment. And as for His generation, who considered that He shall be cut off from the land of the living? For the transgression of My people, He was stricken.

Isaiah 53:9 And He was appointed a grave with the wrong, and with the rich at His death, because He had done no violence, nor was deceit in His mouth,

Isaiah 53:10 But YHWH was pleased to crush Him, He laid sickness on Him, that when He made Himself an offering for guilt, He would see a seed, He would prolong His days and the pleasure of יהוה prosper in His hand.

Isaiah 53:11 He would see the result of the suffering of His life and be satisfied. Through His knowledge My righteous Servant makes many righteous, and He bears their crookedness’s.

Isaiah 53:12 Therefore I give Him a portion among the great, and He divides the spoil with the strong, because He poured out His being unto death, and He was counted with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

I Peter 2:21 For to this you were called, because Messiah also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps,

I Peter 2:22 who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth

I Peter 2:23 who, being reviled, did not revile in return; suffering, did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;

I Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His body on the timber, so that we, having died to sins, might live unto righteousness1 – by whose stripes you were healed.

I Peter 2:25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your lives.

A good example of a true, heart-felt prayer of repentance is Psalm 51. We need to come to the point, like David felt in verse 10 that we cannot grow and overcome and really change our lives to be His Bride on our own power. We must surrender to Him and the power of His Spirit to lead us down the narrow path to Eternal life and give us an understanding and clean heart and help us be committed and loyal to Him and the narrow path to eternal life

Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O Elohim, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Mathew 7:13 Enter in through the narrow gate! Because the gate is wide – and the way is broad – that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in through it.

Mathew 7:14 Because the gate is narrow and the way is hard pressed which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Footnote: for the way is afflicted.

Repentance From Dead Works:

The wages and penalty of sin is death. See I John 3:4 and Romans 6:23. There are works or actions in our lives, that if not repented of, will lead to Eternal Death. There are also works and actions that will lead to Eternal Life. Here are some examples of things leading to dead works. The breaking of the Commandments carries the Death Penalty.

Exodus 31:13 And you, speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘My Sabbaths you are to guard, by all means, for it is a sign1 between Me and you throughout your generations, to know that I, יהוה ,am setting you apart. Footnote: A sign of Yahweh setting us apart, a sign of the everlasting covenant, is His Sabbaths, one of them being the seventh day Sabbath. This is repeated in Ezekiel 20:12 & 20.

Exodus 31:14 And you shall guard the Sabbath, for it is set-apart to you. Everyone who profanes it shall certainly be put to death, for anyone who does work on it, that being shall be cut off from among his people.

In verse 13, please notice that “His Sabbaths” are plural meaning we are to keep all of the Set-apart, High Days commanded in Leviticus 23.

In Deuteronomy 30:4-20, it is very plainly stated that keeping the Commandments leads to life and breaking them leads to death. It is our free choice! We are told to choose life! When people reject His call and refuse to obey Him, they are choosing death.

Deuteronomy 30:4 If any of you are driven out to the farthest parts under the heavens, from there Yahweh your Elohim does gather you, and from there He does take you.

Deuteronomy 30:5 And Yahweh your Elohim shall bring you to the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it. And He shall do good to you, and increase you more than your fathers.

Deuteronomy 30:6 And Yahweh your Elohim shall circumcise your heart and the heart of your seed, to love יהוה your Elohim with all your heart and with all your being, so that you might live,

Deuteronomy 30:7 and יהוה your Elohim shall put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.

Deuteronomy 30:8 And you shall turn back and obey the voice of Yahweh and do all His commands which I command you today.

Deuteronomy 30:9 And יהוה your Elohim shall make you have excess in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground for good. For Yah turns back to rejoice over you for good as He rejoiced over your fathers,

Deuteronomy 30:10 if you obey the voice of יהוה your Elohim, to guard His commands and His laws which are written in this Book of the Torah, if you turn back to יהוה your Elohim with all your heart and with all your being.

Deuteronomy 30:11 For this command which I am commanding you today, it is not too hard for you, nor is it far off.

Deuteronomy 30:12 It is not in the heavens, to say, ‘Who shall ascend into the heavens for us, and bring it to us, and cause us to hear it, so that we do it?’

Deuteronomy 30:13 Nor is it beyond the sea, to say, ‘Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, and cause us to hear it, so that we do it?’

Deuteronomy 30:14 For the Word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart – to do it.

Deuteronomy 30:15 See, I have set before you today life and good, and death and evil,

Deuteronomy 30:16 in that I am commanding you today to love Yahweh your Elohim, to walk in His ways, and to guard His commands, and His laws, and His right-rulings. And you shall live and increase, and Yahweh your Elohim shall bless you in the land which you go to possess.

Deuteronomy 30:17 But if your heart turns away, and you do not obey, and shall be drawn away, and shall bow down to other mighty ones and serve them,

Deuteronomy 30:18 I have declared to you today that you shall certainly perish, you shall not prolong your days in the land which you are passing over the Jordan to enter and possess.

Deuteronomy 30:19 I have called the heavens and the earth as witnesses today against you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore you shall choose life, so that you live, both you and your seed,

Deuteronomy 30:20 to love YHWH your Elohim, to obey His voice, and to cling to Him – for He is your life and the length of your days – to dwell in the land which Yah swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”

Mathew 19:17 And He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except One – Elohim. But if you wish to enter into life, keep the commands.

All the works of the flesh are dead works.

Galatians 5:19 And the works of the flesh are well-known, which are these: adultery, whoring, uncleanness, indecency,

Galatians 5:20 idolatry, drug sorcery, hatred, quarrels, jealousies, fits of rage, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions,

Galatians 5:21 envy, murders, drunkenness, wild parties, and the like – of which I forewarn you, even as I also said before, that those who practice such as these shall not inherit the reign of Elohim.

Keeping false, pagan holidays and the traditions of men, are all Dead Works.

Mathew 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Master, Master,’ shall enter into the reign of the heavens, but he who is doing the desire of My Father in the heavens.

Mathew 7:22 Many shall say to Me in that day, ‘Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Your Name, and cast out demons in Your Name, and done many mighty works in Your Name?’

Mathew 7:23 And then I shall declare to them, ‘I never knew you, depart from Me, you who work lawlessness!

Teachers of lawlessness are those who teach the Sabbaths and Torah are completely done away – there is no need to keep them any longer.

Mathew 15:8 This people draw near to Me with their mouth, and respect Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.

Mathew 15:9 But in vain do they worship Me, teaching as teachings the commands of men.

Most of us have grown up in a culture of replacement theology where the truth of Scripture has been replaced counterfeit beliefs – an example is changing the Saturday Sabbath to Sunday. Now we are faced with the challenge of unlearning the lies and replacing them with truth.

Immersion means you are entering a new way of life. You are a new creature in Yahshua.

Romans 6:3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were immersed into Messiah Yahshua were immersed into His death?

Romans 6:4 We were therefore buried with Him through immersion into death, that as Messiah was raised from the dead by the esteem of the Father, so also we should walk in newness of life.

There are many denominations/sects, in fact, thousands, that profess a belief in one whom they call Jesus. These beliefs are not scripturally correct. They profess the wrong name as well as wrong titles for their organizations they call “churches” or different names of various groups.

Beginning with Genesis 18:19 throughout the remainder of the Scriptures, “Followers of The Way” is the correct terminology for those who are called out of the world and are part of the true spiritual body of Messiah rather than “Christian.”

Genesis 18:19 For I have known him, so that he commands his children and his household after him, to guard the way of Yahweh, to do righteousness and right-ruling, so that Yahweh brings to Abraham what He has spoken to him.”

Please notice Acts 24:14:

Acts 24:14 And this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the Elohim of my fathers, believing all that has been written in the Torah and in the Prophets,

Once we have responded to the call, repented of our sins, and have been given the faith/belief that our sins are washed away by His blood, we are now ready for immersion; but is there a correct way to be immersed? Can just anyone immerse us? What is the correct name to be immersed in? Who has the authority to immerse a person? According to Scripture, only an ordained minister who teaches the truth of Scripture can immerse a person. Paul laid his hands on Timothy and that enabled Timothy to receive the Set-apart Spirit.

II Timothy 1:6 For this reason I remind you to stir up the gift of Elohim which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

II Timothy 1:7 For Elohim has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power and of love and of self-control – or a sound mind (King James Version)

I Timothy 4:14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the elderhood.

Acts 19:1 And it came to be, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper parts, came to Ephesus. And having found some taught ones,

Acts 19:2 he said to them, “Did you receive the Set-apart Spirit when you believed?” And they said to him, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Set-apart Spirit.”

Acts 19:3 And he said to them, “Into what then were you immersed?” And they said, “Into John’s immersion.”

Acts 19:4 And Paul said, “John indeed immersed with an immersion of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the One who is coming after him, that is, in Messiah Yahshua “.

Acts 19:5 And when they heard this, they were immersed in the Name of the Master Yahshua

Acts 19:6 And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Set-apart Spirit came upon them, and they were speaking in tongues and prophesying.

Again, these verses show that it is the ordained ministry, teaching the truth of Scripture, that are qualified to lay hands on the repentant sinner for the receiving of the Set-apart Spirit. Whose name are repentant sinners to be immersed in? Most translations of the Scriptures read that we are to be immersed in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Set-apart Spirit. I have, to date, only found one translation that is correct and not corrupted by the Trinitarian Doctrine!! That translation is called The Restoration Scriptures – The True Name Edition. It says one is to only be immersed in the name of Yahshua. The Scriptures, themselves, prove this fact as there are NO scriptural examples of three names being used in the immersion of any person.

Please notice the following Scriptures:

Acts 4:12 And there is no deliverance in anyone else, for there is no other Name under the heaven given among men by which we need to be saved.”

Acts 10:48 And he commanded them to be immersed in the Name of Yahshua Messiah. Then they asked him to remain a few days. Yahshua’s name is very important to Him and it should be to us too.

Exodus 23:13 And in all that I have said to you take heed. And make no mention of the name of other mighty ones, let it not be heard from your mouth.

Immersion symbolizes many things—forgiveness of sins, becoming a new creation in Messiah, and the beginning of our Covenant relationship with Yahshua, which is often over-looked.

A Covenant is like a contract being entered into by two parties. It has terms and conditions or promises and commitments made on both sides, by both parties.

Many years ago, when I was in contractor’s school, I learned a simple definition of a “Contract.” It was a promise to “perform.” In the case of immersion, we make a commitment to keep Torah, to continue to repent of our sins, to witness about Messiah and His Word and His Gospel Message, to love and serve Him and our Brethren, and to remain faithful in our relationship with Him through prayer, study, meditation and fasting.

Our Covenant is about preparing ourselves as His Bride:

Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him praise, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife prepared herself.”

Revelation 19:8 And to her it was given to be dressed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteousness’s of the set-apart ones. We are engaged to Yahshua. We are to build and nurture that relationship. No one would marry someone they did not know or who would not share their deepest thoughts and desires. Please notice these important Scriptures.

I Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves, then, under the mighty hand of Elohim, so that He exalts you in due time,

I Peter 5:7 casting all your worry upon Him, for He is concerned about you. In exchange for us doing our part, He promises to forgive our sins and will complete the work He has started in us.

I John 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and are not doing the truth.

I John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Yahshua Messiah His Son cleanses us from all sin.

I John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we are misleading ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is trustworthy and righteous to forgive us the sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I John 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us.

Philippians 1:6 being persuaded of this, that He who has begun a good work in you shall perfect it until the day of Yahshua Messiah. He has promised to give us Eternal Life and to rule and reign with Him in His Kingdom.

And they lived and reigned with Messiah for a thousand years.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit Itself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of Elohim,

Romans 8:17 and if children, also heirs – truly heirs of Elohim, and co-heirs with Messiah, if indeed we suffer with Him, in order that we also be exalted together.

Romans 6:22 But now, having been set free from sin, and having become servants of Elohim, you have your fruit resulting in set-apartness, and the end, everlasting life.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the favourable gift of Elohim is everlasting life in Messiah Yahshua our Master.

Acts 5:32 And we are His witnesses to these matters, and so also is the Set-apart Spirit whom Elohim has given to those who obey Him. There are many more promises and blessings mentioned for our obedience and faithfulness as we fulfill our part of the Covenant with Him. Prior to entering into that Covenant with Him, one should “Count the Cost”.

Luke 14:26 If anyone comes to Me and does not hate (love less) his father and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, and his own life too, he is unable to be My taught one.

Luke 14:27 And whoever does not bear his stake and come after Me is unable to be My taught one.

Luke 14:28 For who of you, wishing to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?

Luke 14:29 Otherwise, when he has laid the foundation, and is unable to finish it, all who see it begin to mock him,

Luke 14:30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was unable to finish.’

Luke 14:31 Or what sovereign, going to fight against another sovereign, does not sit down first and take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?

Luke 14:32 And if not, while the other is still far away, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace.

Luke 14:33 So, then, every one of you who does not give up all that he has, is unable to be My taught one.

We must realize, He gave up everything for us and we must be willing to do the same.

We must be willing to do the same. We must walk as He walked. Yahshua’s honor and integrity are perfect. We cannot fool Him. He would not enter into Covenant with us unless our hearts are right and we really understand what our Covenant with Him is all about. It is very important that we really understand and perform all the steps laid out in this study on Immersion.

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore, having left the word of the beginning of the Messiah, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of belief toward Elohim,

Hebrews 6:2 of the teaching of immersions, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of everlasting judgment.

Going on to Perfection: This is the walk of a true Believer. Perfect means mature or complete. It takes our lifetime to let Him complete His work in us and we must be willing to submit to the Conversion Process throughout our lives. Yahshua wants to marry someone just like Himself – with the same mind and the same character.

Philippians 2:5 For, let this mind be in you which was also in Messiah Yahshua, Character, is a pattern of behavior. In other words, we will always act in any given circumstance like He would act, exercising the fruits of His Spirit.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustworthiness,

Galatians 5:23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no Torah.

Galatians 5:24 And those who are of Messiah have impaled the flesh with its passions and the desires.

Galatians 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. We must think like Him and act like Him. We must be one with Him and the Father – Ecad.

John 17:21 so that they all might be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, so that they too might be one in Us, so that the world might believe that You have sent Me.

John 17:22 And the esteem which You gave Me I have given them, so that they might be one as We are one,

This is our Goal! Then there will be perfect harmony and peace in Yahweh’s Family throughout Eternity.

Ephesians 4:13 until we all come to the unity of the belief and of the knowledge of the Son of Elohim, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the completeness of Messiah,

As I said in the beginning – Immersion is the most important decision you will ever make in your lifetime. Study this material as though your life depends upon it –
