Paradigm shift, What’s really going on?

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” Matthew 13: 45-46 (NKJV)

John 5:3-4 “In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had” (KJV)

What is God Calling You to Do?

Today we will be studying a subject that most of the religious and secular world can’t understand.  Why?  Because they are not “Called.”  Only those who receive and accept the call can understand its real meaning and application in their lives.  We need to be sober and humbled by the magnitude of the specialness and hope of this calling.  It is empowering to change our lives and strengthen us through the days ahead.

This is a subject to embrace with all our hearts – to put our arms and minds around with joy and gladness – and at the same time, never let others or the powers of darkness rob us of the hope of our Calling.  This is a subject to spend quality, serious time meditating and praying about it until we can make its meaning a core part of our very being and hope.

Definitions of Call, Called, Calling, etc:

 Old Testament:

Strong’s #1721 – Qara – To cry out, call aloud, roar; to proclaim, pronounce, preach; to call, summon (to court), to invite, to implore; to call together, to appoint, to praise, to celebrate, to call by name, to be called to be summoned, to call together, to be named, to read aloud, the enunciation of a specific vocal message.  Calling upon the name of Yahweh, to summon His aid, summon for a specific task, a critical need, pray to Yahweh to reverse a curse.  The prophets predicted the Gentiles would call upon Yahweh and serve Him. (Zephaniah 3:9, Isaiah 65:24, Joel 2:32) and He will answer them.  Whosoever calls upon the name of Yahweh shall be delivered. It is usually addressed to a specific recipient and intended to elicit a specific response.  It is used to represent a specific name.  The naming of a person may characterize or specify an individual’s primary characteristics. It also means to declare a prophetic message.

Strong’s #5749 – ud – A verb meaning to bear witness, to testify, to serve as a witness or testify against someone, through falsely or in favor of someone.  It can also mean to admonish someone, to warn solemnly, such warnings frequently came from Yahweh, they were also mediated through His prophets.  It can mean to call to witness, to take as a witness, to obtain witnesses.

New Covenant:

2564 – Kaleo – To call:

  1. To call to someone in order that he may come or go somewhere.
  2. Particularly with the voice as a shepherd calls his flock. He called them to follow as His disciples.
  3. Generally, to call in some way, send for, direct to come.
  4. To call authoritatively, to call forth, summon, before a judge, figuratively, of Yahweh calling forth and disposing of things that are not, even as though they were, i.e., calling them into existence.
  5. To invite, particularly to a banquet as the Wedding Feast., to call and invite to anything e.g., to call to repentance, to call into the kingdom of Yahweh means to the duties, privileges, and bliss of the Truth here and hereafter.
  6. To call to any station, to appoint, choose.
  7. To call, i.e., to name to give a name to any person or thing
  8. Proper name or surname of persons, after the name of someone, a descriptive or appellation of persons.
  9. In the sense of, to be regarded, accounted, i.e., to be.
  10. The word and its cognates involve:
  11. Invitation
  12. Designation
  13. Invocation
  14. Summons
  15. In the OLD COVENANT, a call of Yahweh to His servants and His people is part of gracious dealing with mankind. A divine call that Abraham, Moses, Bezalel, Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel and other eminent servants of Yahweh fulfilled the tasks committed to them.  The Word refers to Israel when thus called “the people of Yahweh,”, but prophets complained they refused to listen and stopped their ears so that they should not hear. Prophets had visions of the calling of the Gentiles into the covenant and service of Yahweh.  In the epistles, particularly Paul’s, there is found a more definite meaning of the word as the call of Yahweh to the blessings of Salvation.  It is intimately associated with the eternal purpose of Yahweh in human redemption.  See 1588 – the chosen, the elect – which are those invited to the gospel Feast and are the more select company who had heard and accepted.  In the epistles, the called are the chosen.  They are those called out of the darkness into His marvelous light.  Thus, the choosing is included in the calling.  With Peter and Paul, the calling is more than an invitation.  It is an invitation responded to and accepted.  It refers to those who had an effectual call.

Strong’s 2821 – klesis – A call, invitation to a banquet.  A call, invitation to the Kingdom of Yahweh and its privileges.  We are to consider the circumstances of our call, the factors involved in your call.  It is Yahweh invitation to man to accept the benefits of His salvation is what this calling as all about, particularly in the gospels.  This calling is a Set-apart calling that comes from Yahweh, not according to our works, but according to his purpose.  We are to make our calling and election sure.  Our calling is not obtained without labor and conflict.

Strong’s 2822 – kletos – from 2564.  To call.  Called, invited, welcomed, appointed.  To designate those invited to a banquet.

The word translated church in #1577 is never used in the original Greek.  The word Ecclesia means called out ones.  Those called out of the world to be an assembly or congregation of true believers.

As we read the definitions of “called” we need to make it very personal.  There are now about 7 billion people on the face of the earth.  The number of people really called and converted, i.e., actually having His Spirit, only number in the thousands – not millions or billions.

Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of Elohim dwells in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Messiah, this one is not His.

It is Yahweh that searches and looks upon the heart.  As we will see, He does the calling.  It takes a miracle.  This is part of the specialness of our calling.  We will examine the criteria for His calling and realize we are a select few.  This is hard to believe, but the scriptures will again speak for themselves.

Jeremiah 17:10 I, Elohim, search the heart, I try the kidneys, and give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.

The subject of our calling is divided into 4 parts/points:

Part I:  Many are Called, but Few are Chosen:

When we studied the Resurrections or different Judgment Periods, we learned that there is a greater harvest of people offered Salvation at a future time.

Zephaniah 3:9 For then I shall turn unto the peoples a clean lip so that they all call on the Name of Elohim, to serve Him with one language.

Revelation 20:5 (and the rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended) – this is the first resurrection.

Ezekiel 37:1 The hand of Elohim was upon me and took me out by the Spirit of Elohim, and set me down in the midst of the valley. And it was filled with bones.

Ezekiel 37:2 And He made me pass among them, all around, and see, there were very many on the surface of the valley, and see, they were very dry.

Ezekiel 37:3 And He said to me, “Son of man, would these bones live?” And I said, “O Master Elohim, you know.”

Ezekiel 37:4 Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and you shall say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of Yahweh

Ezekiel 37:5 Thus said the Master Elohim to these bones, “See, I am bringing into you a spirit, and you shall live

Ezekiel 37:25 And they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, where your fathers dwelt. And they shall dwell in it, they and their children and their children’s children, forever, and My servant David be their prince forever.

Ezekiel 37:26 And I shall make a covenant of peace with them – an everlasting covenant it is with them. And I shall place them and increase them, and shall place My set-apart place in their midst, forever.

Ezekiel 37:27 And My Dwelling Place shall be over them. And I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.

Ezekiel 37:28 And the gentiles shall know that I, Elohim, am setting Israel apart, when My set-apart place is in their midst – forever.

This is in addition to those who come through the Great Tribulation and those born during the millennium of the Kingdom Reign.  It is now that judgment is upon the House of Elohim

1 Peter 4:17 Because it is time for judgment to begin from the House of Elohim. And if firstly from us, what is the end of those who do not obey the Commandments of Elohim?

The scripture is plain that it is the righteous, those that keep His commandments, Psalm 119:172 that are now being judged and have been called at this time.  Many are called, but few are chosen.

Mathew 20:16 Thus the last shall be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.”

Mathew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.”

In this account, the call or the invitation goes out to the Wedding Supper as we have been invited to that same supper as the Bride of Yahshua.  The difference is we have accepted that call and been given the understanding to receive it.

Mathew 22:8 Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast, indeed, is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.

Mathew 22:9 Therefore go into the street corners, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding feast.

Mathew 22:10 And those servants went out into the street corners and gathered all whom they found, both wicked and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests.

Mathew 22:11 And when the sovereign came in to view the guests, he saw there a man who had not put on a wedding garment,

Mathew 22:12 and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not having a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless.

Mathew 22:13 Then the sovereign said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him out into the outer darkness – there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Mathew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

It is important to note the call has gone out (The true Gospel Message) to millions of people since it was first preached, however, Yahweh who searches the hearts only selects a few.  Only the Father calls people to His Son for Salvation at this time.  Very few people are actually humble and surrendered enough to really forsake all they have and be obedient to the truth.

Luke 14:33 So, then, every one of you who does not give up all that he has, is unable to be My disciple. Few find it and few are able to stay on the path until they reach the end of it.

Mathew 7:14 Because the gate is narrow and the way is hard pressed which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Revelation 17:14 They shall fight with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them, for He is Master of masters and Sovereign of sovereigns. And those with Him are called, and chosen, and trustworthy. It will be partly because of our faithfulness that we will be chosen to be the bride.

Mathew 13:10 And the taught ones came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”

Mathew 13:11 And He answering, said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the secrets of the reign of the heavens, but to them it has not been given.

Mathew 13:12 For whoever possesses, to him more shall be given, and he shall have overflowingly; but whoever does not possess, even what he possesses shall be taken away from him.

Mathew 13:13 Because of this I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

Mathew 13:14 And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is completely filled, which says, ‘Hearing you shall hear and by no means understand, and seeing you shall see and by no means perceive,

Mathew 13:15 for the heart of this people has become thickened, and their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their heart, and turn back, and I heal them.

Mathew 13:16 And blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear,

Mathew 13:17 for truly I say to you, that many prophets and righteous ones longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

Mathew 13:18 You, then, hear the parable of the Sower:

Mathew 13:19 When anyone hears the word of the reign, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is that sown by the wayside.

Mathew 13:20 And that sown on rocky places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy,

Mathew 13:21 yet he has no root in himself, but is short-lived, and when pressure or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

Mathew 13:22 And that sown among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the worry of this age and the deceit of riches choke the word, and it becomes fruitless.

Mathew 13:23 And that sown on the good soil is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields – some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

These verses are pivotal to understanding why many hear the truth, but do not understand in their hearts (conversion is of the heart.)  (Verse 15) I will expound these verses more deeply in the Scripture Study.

In conclusion to my 1st part, it should be obvious that if our Great Creator, the Sovereign of the universe, the Almighty Elohim was trying to call and save everyone at this time, He has utterly failed.  He will, however, call and open up the rest of humanities minds and hearts at a yet future time.

Part 2:  Who Does Yahweh Call?

James 2:5 Listen, my beloved brothers: Has Elohim not chosen the poor of this world, rich in belief and heirs of the reign which He promised to those who love Him?

James 2:6 But you have shown disrespect towards the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you and drag you into the courts?

James 2:7 Do they not blaspheme that good Name by which you are called?

James 2:8 If you truly accomplish the sovereign law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well,

James 2:9 but if you show partiality, you commit sin, being found guilty by the Torah as transgressors.

Many people despise poor people, yet the mind of Messiah has pity on them and finds they are better candidates that are willing to receive His Calling.

1 Corinthians 1:26 For look at your calling, brothers, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble.

1 Corinthians 1:27 But Elohim has chosen the foolish matters of the world to put to shame the wise, and Elohim has chosen the weak of the world to put to shame the strong.

1 Corinthians 1:28 And Elohim has chosen the low-born of the world and the despised, and the ones that are not, that He might bring to naught the ones that are,

Prideful, mighty and noble people are seldom called because they are not humble enough to think they need Yahweh.

Verse 28 – The things which are not —.  How does Yahweh look at the things which are not?  How should we look at and respect those Yahweh has called to be our brothers and sisters?

Romans 4:17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even Yahweh, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

We should be inspired and encouraged and see ourselves as He sees us – as His Sons and Daughters and future Bride for His Son.

Part 3 – What Does Yahweh Call Us Out Of?

Acts 26:17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,

Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto Yahweh, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Please notice the words to turn them from darkness to light.  Ephesians 6:12 says that Satan and his demons are the rulers of darkness.

The word “converted” means to turn to Yahweh.  John 1:4 says Yahshua is that light.  We are called from darkness to face the light – in other words, we turn our backs on darkness, walk away from it and face the light because we are sanctified (set apart) by our faith in the Word.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a set-apart nation, a people for a possession, that you should proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light,

Again, called out of darkness.  Darkness is deception, paganism, Gnosticism, and false religion.  Light is Yahshua and His truth.

John 3:21 But he that does the truth comes to the light, so that his works are clearly seen, that they have been wrought in Elohim.”

Last week I covered clean and unclean food.  It was split into two parts – physical and spiritual.  I mentioned three things that sanctified us (that made us Set Apart, clean and set-apart).  They were the Sabbath, Clean Foods and His Word of Truth.  In talking with others, it seems I didn’t make myself clear enough.  Due to our sanctification – i.e., that special relationship with Yahweh can be broken and we can become unclean in His sight.  We must leave the works of darkness behind and not have fellowship with unbelievers.  That means not attend religious services or bible studies or other things of a religious nature with those who are not called out of darkness and still remain under the influence of Satan’s spirit and false/pagan practices.

2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness? And what fellowship has light with darkness?

2 Corinthians 6:15 And what agreement has Messiah with Lucifer? Or what part does a believer have with an unbeliever?

2 Corinthians 6:16 And what union has the Dwelling Place of Elohim with idols? For you are a Dwelling Place of the living Elohim, as Elohim has said, “I shall dwell in them and walk among them, and I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.”

2 Corinthians 6:17 Therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says Elohim, and do not touch what is unclean, and I shall receive you.

We are to keep ourselves separate otherwise we can fall back under the influence of Satan’s spirit and false/pagan practices.  This does not mean we do not associate with non-believers, but rather we do not have religious fellowship with them.

Ephesians 2:2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience,

Satan’s spirit works in the children of disobedience.  Disobedience is being disobedient to the things that make us Set Apart (sanctified) – The Sabbath, Clean Foods, and obeying His Word of truth and not participating in pagan traditions.

2 Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous for you with a jealousy according to Elohim. For I gave you in marriage to one husband, to present you as an innocent maiden to Messiah.

2 Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid, lest, as the serpent deceived Eve by his trickery, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Messiah.

2 Corinthians 11:4 For, indeed, if he who is coming proclaims another Good News, whom we have not proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different Good News which you have not accepted, you put up with it well enough!

2 Corinthians 11:13 For such are false emissaries, deceptive workers, masquerading as emissaries of Messiah.

2 Corinthians 11:14 And no wonder! For Satan himself masquerades as a messenger of light!

2 Corinthians 11:15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works!

Paul is warning the Corinthian Assembly (the called-out ones) about the other Messiah, the other gospel, the other spirit which are all false practices of mainstream religion today that worship the god of this world.

2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Yahshua, who is the image of Yahweh, should shine unto them.

Please notice it says Satan has blinded them from the Light that we walk in and are called to be in.

John 1:7 This one came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all might believe through him.

It is that light that we are to have fellowship with.  It is possible that once we receive the Spirit to Quench that Spirit and lose it.

2 Peter 2:20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Master and Saviour Yahshua Messiah, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the first.

2 Peter 2:21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the set-apart command delivered unto them.

2 Peter 2:22 For them the proverb has proved true, “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “A washed sow returns to her rolling in the mud.”

I will comment in more detail how I watched first hand; these things happen with the break-up of World-Wide Church of God.

Point 4:  The Purpose and Goal of Our Calling:

Our calling puts us into a special relationship with Him.

1 Corinthians 1:9 Elohim is trustworthy, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Yahshua Messiah our Master.

He works in our life to help us overcome and work things out in our lives because of this calling.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all matters work together for good to those who love

Elohim, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Romans 8:29 Because those whom He knew beforehand, He also ordained beforehand to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, for Him to be the first-born among many brothers.

Romans 8:30 And whom He ordained beforehand, these He also called, and whom He called, these He also declared right. And whom He declared right, these He also esteemed.

Paul had the vision of His calling and kept everything in proper perspective and priorities.

Philippians 3:8 What is more, I even count all to be loss because of the excellence of the knowledge of Messiah Yahshua my Master, for whom I have suffered the loss of all, and count them as refuse, in order to gain Messiah,

Philippians 3:9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through belief in Messiah, the righteousness which is from Elohim on the basis of belief,

Philippians 3:10 to know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,

Philippians 3:11 if somehow, I might attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Philippians 3:12 Not that I have already received, or already been perfected, but I press on, to lay hold of that for which Messiah Yahshua has also laid hold of me.

Philippians 3:13 Brothers, I do not count myself to have laid hold of it yet, but only this: forgetting what is behind and reaching out for what lies ahead,

Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of Elohim in Messiah Yahshua.

What is that high calling Paul is speaking of?

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a set-apart nation, a people for a possession, that you should proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light

We will be Kings and Priests ruling and reigning with Yahshua.

Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones – and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them – and the lives of those who had been beheaded because of the witness they bore to Yahshua and because of the Word of Elohim, and who did not worship the beast, nor his image, and did not receive his mark upon their foreheads or upon their hands. And they lived and reigned with Messiah for a thousand years

We are facing hard days ahead, yet He has many wonderful promises to those He has called.

Joel 2:32 And it shall be that everyone who calls on the Name of Yahshua shall be delivered. For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be an escape as Elohim has said, and among the survivors whom the father calls.

Physical deliverance would be very welcome as this world becomes even darker and yet the ultimate goal is to be His Bride.

Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him praise, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife prepared herself.”

Revelation 19:8 And to her it was given to be dressed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteousness’s of the set-apart ones.

Revelation 19:9 And he said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who have been called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” And he said to me, “These are the true words of Elohim.

Let us prepare ourselves as His special called out ones.  How precious and wonderful is our Calling?
